Please join us on Tuesday, October 6th, for a roundtable briefing from Barry Penner, Q.C., Managing Director,Vancouver International Arbitration Centre on the provincial government’s new Arbitration Actand how it provides an alternative to the court system for resolving your business disputes.
Due to the election campaign, Hon. David Eby is no longer available to participate as previously announced. Jonathan Eades, Senior Legal Counsel, Ministry of Attorney General will speak to the legislative changes on behalf of the Ministry of the Attorney General.
The new Arbitration Act, which came into force on September 1st, modernizes the province’s arbitration system, improves access to out-of-court options and reflects best practices from other jurisdictions. Changes provide clarity on procedures, provide arbitrators with broad procedural powers and provides solutions to keep the process moving forward expeditiously.
