Paul is a litigator and legal advisor with 20 years of experience in private practice acting for clients on complex commercial matters, with particular expertise in the areas of construction, real estate and strata law, commercial leasing, and shareholder and partner disputes.

He has appeared as trial and appellate counsel at all levels of courts in British Columbia and at the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition to his extensive court experience Paul has represented clients in dozens of arbitrations and mediations.

Paul is currently a managing director at Owen Bird Law Corporation responsible for the overall management of the firm.

Paul completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria and worked as a high school teacher before obtaining his law degree in 2004. He was the recipient of the British Columbia Law Society Gold medal for the highest academic standing in his graduating law class, and received many other academic awards.

Paul also served as a law clerk at the British Columbia Court of Appeal

He has served as a board member for various non-profit societies in the community, including currently sitting on the board of directors of the North Shore Winter Club.

Paul has extensive experience in arbitrations and mediations, both in British Columbia and beyond, in a wide range of disputes including commercial lease disputes, construction claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, real estate and strata disputes and various other areas.
