Simon is a senior and skilled mediator and arbitrator. Following his call to the bar in 1983, he developed a broad commercial and insurance based practice, representing clients at all levels of court. Simon also earned a reputation for fairness and for providing practical and cost effective advice in assisting clients to resolve many disputes without the necessity of trial.
Recognizing a need, Simon launched his mediation and arbitration practice in 2004 while a senior partner at Bull, Housser & Tupper LLP (now Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP). In the ensuing years, he has mediated a wide range of cases in a variety of sectors, including claims involving property damage, shareholder disputes, professional liability, construction, environmental contamination, real estate, bodily injury, employment and First Nations, among others. Simon is also regularly retained to arbitrate a variety of commercial matters and UMP claims.
As managing partner at Bull Housser & Tupper LLP from 2011 to 2016, Simon also enhanced his business acumen, demonstrating his natural ability to lead, work cooperatively and collaboratively with others and, when required, make the difficult decisions- skills he employs regularly in his mediation and arbitration practice.
Since March 2017, Simon has focused exclusively on mediation and arbitration as part of Cornish Margolis Boyd Mediation & Arbitration.
